About Professional Development

Professional DevelopmentAt Educational Assessment Australia, we offer a range of customised professional development for teachers and parents. Our team of experienced teachers and researchers can deliver the professional development at your school. Depending on your requirements, the professional development may vary from a one-hour session to a full-day workshop. Professional development can be arranged before or after school, during holiday periods or on student-free days.

We can tailor professional development to your school’s requirements. Our core competencies include:

Schools also have the option to host a professional development event and invite other schools. Host schools may be entitled to receive free professional development. How to write effective multiple-choice items for Mathematics
8 June 2016, Sydney


This one-day workshop aims to train teachers to write excellent multiple-choice items for use in school-based assessment tasks ranging from Years 2 to 12.
The training will consist of a mix of talks, discussions, independent item writing, analysis and reviews. Each item will meet specific criteria and aim to challenge students in the areas of number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability.
Participants will be given the opportunity to write items of varying difficulty to take back to school, gaining valuable feedback in the process.

Those participants showing a creative flair and mathematical insight may be contacted to write items for ICAS (International Competition and Assessment in Schools, Mathematics).
